Hey Fellow Filmmakers!

Wanted to share some insight I had while researching who my ideal film investor for my paranormal documentary Deadly Dogmen. This is part 2 of my producing my journey. Here is part 1. https://filmbusinessplan.com/producing-a-paranormal-documentary/

As a recap, I’m currently producing a paranormal documentary called Deadly Dogmen. A quick breakdown. A dogman is supposedly either a supernatural werewolf or an alien hybrid werewolf. It’s the biggest hunting game since Bigfoot.

So instead of a customer, I have to close investors. Now, this documentary isn’t about social issues, global warming, or a heartstring story per se. It’s a creepy chilly willy kind of tale! So who the hell is going to invest in this?

My team and I started brainstorming. Imagine if you were out hunting and got a glimpse of a Bigfoot, the Chupacabra, or a Dogman? And you took one down!

I started thinking that our ideal film investor would be people who hunt. If anyone knows anything about hunting it’s an expensive sport and a lucrative demographic. Did a quick search on FB Groups in South Texas with the word hunting. Dozens and dozens of small businesses that cater to that demographic popped up. Gear, weapons, property rentals for hunting, fresh game meat, etc.

So what am I selling? Why would anyone invest in a paranormal documentary? For a once in a lifetime experience! We started focusing on the perks instead of the documentary itself. Invest and get a 6-hour paranormal tour on haunted private property with thermal cameras, night vision goggles, special audio equipment that picks up different frequencies, photo ops with the SFX werewolves, and with all the bells and whistles. This will be hosted by our paranormal investigator Eddie Hill.

These ideal investors are A personalities. Wild and passionate guys and gals. Action orientated. Adventure seekers and very spontaneous. Those that love a scary story by the campfire. We actually want them to feel that they are hunting a mythological creature. We will be also offering product placement integration, that’s when a business can promote their product into the documentary for a fee.

Ask yourself this. Are you matching your investor to the theme of your film? Dig deep when researching who might invest in your film. Try figuring out what their personality types are and connect them with your pitch. Who else is breaking down their ideal film investor?
