Static. That’s all I feel I’ve been watching for the last few years. White noise. There’s a reason why content doesn’t anchor itself in our memories. Doomscrolling, dopamine hits—here and gone. Our fingertips are now calloused from endless swiping, when once they were worn from working with wood and stone.
Hollywood didn’t invent storytelling. Our ancestors did. Hollywood is no longer a museum of dreams; it’s a content farm. And you are not invited.
Before cameras. Before Hollywood. Before stories were trapped in scripts and studios—there was the storyteller.
The shaman.
The elder by the fire.
The muralist painting gods into existence.
For thousands of years, storytelling wasn’t just a pastime—it was a ceremony.
We celebrated our tragic heroes, warned of our enemies, whispered wives’ tales, and laughed at the absurdity of it all.
This is not nostalgia. It’s in our DNA. And the tech bros want to rob us of everything. They are the Lokis of our era.
We need to shift our perspective and become our own mini-studios. Everything is now within reach to cultivate our audience. We can four-wall theaters, self-distribute, and connect directly with our viewers. Budgets must adapt, and when presenting them to funders, they must see they’re investing in a cultural movement. Money is energy—it flows to great stories.
Be bold with your storytelling. Be bold with your cinematography. Cast those archetypes. Continue this ancient lineage.
If cinema is dying, then—for the love of everything you hold sacred—go down fighting!
Something new will rise from the ashes and be reborn. 🔥🎥
